Daphne

I've been a vegan/ vegetarian cook since 2009. As a member of the collective Troo Food Liberation I have organised various activities such as teaching classes for adults and kids, organised eat-ins, cooked at yoga festivals, and hosted pop-ups in restaurants. Since 2011 my primary focus has been  catering for retreats around the world, where I've honed my skills in healthy delicious food and crafting recipes with readily available seasonal ingredients, adapting to intolerances and using left overs creatively.

With the arrival of my son, I deepened my understanding of the challenges that come with motherhood and the many decisions mothers must make for their own well-being, and that of their children. It is so easy for mothers to put their own wellbeing aside and prioritise that of their family. My goal is to support mothers in finding ways to care for their families in the best way possible while not neglecting their own needs.  I have also immersed myself in post-partum support through mentorship with an incredible doula from Red Tent Doulas, which has given me greater insight in the ways mothers can be supported on all levels. Recently, I've completed training as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.

My goal is to empowering mothers to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. I'm dedicated to supporting them reclaim their pivotal role as medicine woman of their family. Having personally navigated the struggles of maintaining balance after becoming a mother I want to support other mothers in choosing the best path for themselves, their health and general wellbeing while paving the way for a wiser, healthier, and more connected next generation.

Whether it's through culinary guidance, lifestyle adjustments, or addressing specific needs in a very holistic bio-individual way, my goal is to offer support tailored to each mother's unique journey in finding balance.

By weaving together my diverse experiences and trainings and support mothers in making the best choices for themselves and their families. I firmly believe that we stand at a pivotal moment in human history, where the choices we make have profound implications. It's crucial for us to adopt healthier lifestyles, teach our children how to live in harmony with nature and themselves, and advocate for real, unadulterated, unmodified food that fosters true nourishment and promotes health. It is time for us to reclaim our health, reclaim our lives and restore our relationship with nature.

I love learning new things and I am fascinated by human beings and the way we function, and behave. I am especially interested in health, medicinal plants/ herbs, human behaviour and cooking. I have taken many courses, workshops, classes in nutrition, macrobiotics, herbal medicine, Ayurveda, raw food, vegan cooking techniques and many more. When I finished school, at 17 years old, I got a BA in psychology, trying to understand the human experience better. I then went on to study art and worked with photography and in art galleries but slowly made my way to nutrition through a skin irritation and a raw food workshop (you can read more here). From there my life changed. Some of the more extensive trainings i have completed are:

In 2017-18 the Wise Earth Ayurveda Nutrition Kitchen Sadhana - Food, Breath and Sound at the Maya Tiwari's Wise Earth School of Ayurveda : (online)

In 2018 The Living Foods Lifestyle - two week course at the Ann Wigmore Natural Health Institute in Puerto Rico (live)

In 2021-2022 Foundation -Phase I at vegan chef Matthew Kenney's Food Future Institute (online)

In 2023-24  The health coach training program  at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition  (online)

about Troo Living

TROO Living is about living our best life. It’s about empowerment, re-claiming ones own health in body, mind and spirit. We are all different, with individual needs, likes and dislikes. Here we honour and respect every individual with all their gifts and challenges and support each other in making the best choices, in our life, in this moment. We will find the best way to live a happy, healthy, balanced, joyful life, enjoying ourselves as much as possible along the way. I will share recipes, ways of eating the healthiest foods we can find, preparing them in a way that makes them irresistible as well as looking at the full cycle of life and all aspects of health that can affect our wellbeing.

I believe Health is an ongoing process - a way of life, and that if we build it slowly but firmly, it can last... it's a constant strive for balance so we may as well have fun living it.

TROO Living is a space of collaboration. A space where people from different walks of life, from different areas of health, movement, body work, extremely talented people that i have met along my path, come together in various contexts and co-create, share, teach each other and others, share the wisdom they have acquired through their journey and together co-create a space of transformation and growth.

Connecting with nature and with your body is the cornerstone of this process. Health is not only about food, it's a combination of good nutrition with exercise, meditation and contemplation, enjoying life with good company, spending time in nature, and much more. With this holistic approach we won't only attain health, but also enjoy every part of the journey... a long and exciting journey. I want to share my journey with you, all the things I learn along the way, and hope it inspires some to take charge of their health and their life and share their experiences  as well.
